Julia A. Shinkareva is an award-winning journalist, photographer and writer based in New York, NY. She was born in Moscow, Russia and raised in Milan, Italy. 

After many years of hard creative work across the globe she obtained a ‘golden ticket to America for talented people’ aka visa for individuals with extraordinary ability and achievement in arts and settled in the United States to proceed with her professional journey. Initially pursuing a career in fashion and lifestyle journalism, Julia was hired by the British Culture Trip in London as a photo reporter and writer. There she completed her first international editorial assignments. She has worked on projects in Japan, Italy, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and France before moving to the United States. Julia is an author of numerous articles in different languages for such big international editions as Elle, GQ, L’Officiel and many more.

Julia works with a painterly softness and sensitivity to her subjects, heightening detail and nuance. She became interested in lifestyle and street photography in early teens.

Julia holds membership of National Writers Union in the US, and International Federation of Journalists in Paris, France. Julia got her Master’s Degree in IULM Milano in 2013. Her work was exhibited in the US, Italy and Portugal. Julia considers herself a storyteller. Be that the visual or the textual form of art.
